About Ryan Grella

Ryan GrellaHi there! I’m Ryan Grella the person behind CSCSTestPrep.com and the NSCA CSCS Examination Review and Study Guide eBook. I earned the CSCS credential in 2002 while I was attending physical therapy school at the University of South Florida.

At the time I felt that an exercise science related credential would provide a good supplement to my physical therapy education. I researched the available options and eventually concluded that the National Strength and Conditioning Association’s Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist was the credential for me.

It was definitely a wise choice and through the years I have encouraged my colleagues to do so as well. I’ve always had a strong  interest in strength and conditioning and continue to lift and train five days per week. I’ve been a member of the NSCA for over 15 years now and find that their journals and articles are just as valuable as those that are put out by the physical therapy profession. In fact, from a practical standpoint, I’ve found that the information in the NSCA journals is more applicable to my everyday practice as a physical therapist.

It has been over 20 years since I earned the CSCS credential. I’ve since graduated with a Master of Science in Physical Therapy from the University of South Florida, a Doctor of Physical Therapy from the University of St. Augustine for Health Sciences, and became a board certified orthopaedic physical therapist from the American Board of Physical Therapy Specialties. Presently I’m the Director of Rehabilitation at a hospital in Tampa Florida, and have become very involved with the American Physical Therapy Association as an advocate for the profession. I serve on the government advocacy committee of the Florida Physical Therapy Association.

I have always learned best when teaching and led study groups while I was in physical therapy school, as well as studying for the National Physical Therapy Exam, and the Specialist Certification in Orthopaedics. As with all things in life, you soon forget key principles if you do not use or review them on a consistent basis. The content of the CSCS exam falls into this category for me, and I felt that the best way to review and retain the material would be to teach it myself. Thus CSCStestprep.com was born.

The goals of my involvement with this website are:

  • To educate others about the CSCS credential
  • To teach and review the CSCS exam content
  • To develop an online resource to be used by anyone interested in taking and passing the CSCS exam
  • To develop an online resource to be used by anyone who already holds the CSCS credential, but would like to review the content for better retention and understanding.
  • To develop a study guide that can be used by anyone wishing to supplement their CSCS exam preparation strategy.
  • To find the best resources for passing the CSCS exam
  • To encourage physical therapists to earn the CSCS credential

If you are new to the CSCS credential, I am here to help you. If you have any questions or comments please feel free to contact me.

Best of luck to all the test takers,

Ryan Grella
